Reminders – the November meeting, and more

The November 20th meeting will be held at Fontenelle Forest at 7PM.

An annual favorite, Aaron Frey, manager of Rockbrook Camera, will share the latest in camera gear, tripods, lights and accessories. Just in time for the holidays!

Photos are still needed for the Forest and Library Displays

If you have not already, please bring your Vacation prints and Fontenelle Forest Fall Landscapes prints to the November meeting. The Fall Landscape photos will be displayed at the Forest, and Vacation photos will be displayed at the Bellevue Library. Vacation photos can be from any vacation, anytime, anywhere.

If you are unable to bring prints to the meeting, they can be dropped off at Headleys in West Omaha (19340 J St) (bbqribsyum@gmail.com) or Kathleen’s in Bellevue (123 Bellevue Blvd South) (katcr@cox.net).

Dues

If you have not yet paid dues, they are $20 for an individual and $30 for a family. Kathleen will be collecting at the meeting.

Be sure to check that your Fontenelle Forest membership is current. All photo club members must also be members of Fontenelle Forest.


Coming soon in December…

It’s time to think about photos for the December potluck and member slideshow. There will be a signup sheet for the potluck dinner at the November meeting. For the December slideshow, all members are encouraged to submit 3 or 4 of their favorite photos.

The membership voted to stay with traditional prints, rather than digital prints for the annual photo contest in June.

Photo Club Photos Raised Over $3000

Photo Club photos (and very generous donors) raised over $3000 at the Fontenelle Forest Feather Our Nest silent auction.

See the photos below, then set aside some of your photos for next year. They could help raise $$$ for the Forest! Photos must be from Fontenelle Forest or one of their properties.

Member Lorraine Feldhausen will present, “I have all these photos. How can I share and enjoy them more?” She will be showing us a practical way to put to use all of the photos we have all collected, and make someone else’s day brighter, too.

A Late Reminder – Field Trip August 23rd

Field Trip! 
August 23rd, 8am.  Join the group at Saint Leo’s Catholic Church, 1920 N 102nd St, Omaha, NE 68114 (102nd and Blondo).
Why? To photograph the beautiful flower garden, bees, bugs and butterflys in the early morning light. 

Macro (closeup) photos will be collected in October for display at the Bellevue Library.  So this is a perfect opportunity to get those shots.

Five important announcements for upcoming events

The September 18th club meeting will be held at Camp Brewster. Camp Brewster is just north of Fontenelle Forest at 1313 Bellevue Blvd N, Bellevue, NE. 
Our usual meeting place will be in use during the Fontenelle Forest Feather Our Nest event.

We will be sharing our summer photos.  Anything Goes from your summer.

All photos MUST have been taken in Fontenelle Forest Nature Center or one of the Forest properties – Camp Wa-kon-da, Neale Woods, the Wetlands or Camp Logan Fontenelle.

For Bellevue Library: Subject
– Vacation
Any photos from any vacation, even if it is sitting on the porch and sipping a cold drink.

Contest Photo Pickup – Saturday, June 28th from 9am to 10:30am

Pickup will be on Saturday, June 28th from 9am to 10:30am

Important: The Best of Show, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winning photos will be moved and displayed at the Bellevue Library (space permitting). You do not need to pick up Best of, 1st, 2nd & 3rd place entries.

All other entries, including Honorable Mention, need to be picked up.

All the winning photos except third place photos, will be hung at the Bellevue Library for display.

Additional Leadership

Lorraine Feldhausen, Diane Kinney, and Howard Carson have stepped up and volunteered to head the photo club for the 2025-2026 year. We still have no President or Vice President. The club should revise the club charter and get the Fontenelle Forest administration to sign off on this.
