News & Notes – 8/21/14

Despite the hot humid weather, the summer is quickly coming to an end. Before you know it we will be back at the Nature Center, sharing stories of our photographic adventures. In the meanwhile, here are few items for your review.

Upcoming Photo Display Requests

As you are out with your cameras this summer, please keep in mind that we have some upcoming photo display requests.

  • For our September 18th meeting we are looking for pictures of Nebraska and Iowa State Historic Sites as well as pictures of bridges.
  • For our December 18th meeting we are looking for pictures of any type of precipitation (rain, snow, hail, dew, etc…) as well as images taken in Nebraska and Iowa State Parks.

The photos must be 8×10, 8×12 or 14×16, non-matted and non-framed. On the back of photo, please list the photographer’s name, the photo topic and where it was taken. Thanks to Judy Dye for staying on top of this for us!

Member Forum Update

I’m very pleased to report that use of the website Member Forum page has been on the increase. We’ve had folks sharing some great photos as well as posting questions and discussions regarding equipment and travel. If you haven’t done so lately, take a moment to check out some forum topics. If a forum topic interests you, sign in and click on the Subscribe link within the forum and you will receive e-mail notifications whenever someone posts something. Or share something yourself! It’s a fun and informative way of to interact with other club members.

Educational Video of the Week

This 10 minute video consists of an interview with Bob Holmes, a very well-respected travel photographer. Bob gives some great tips on how to improve your photography.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to respond to this post or send me an e-mail at webmaster@fontenelleforestphotoclub.org.

  1. I’m not sure what you are collecting the Nebraska historic photos for, hence the question…I have a Nebraska historic site shot; is it too late to submit? Thank you. Steve Flynn
