Night Photography Outing Results Wanted
Members of the club got together at Neale Woods on Wednesday 4/22 for a night photography shoot. Conditions were perfect and we had folks produce some very successful star images as well as light painting pictures. I’d love to post some pics on our site so if you were at the night shoot please send 2-3 of your best shots to me at email@example.com and I’ll get them posted.

Wetlands Photo Walk
On May 16th, Club President, Allen Kurth, will be leading a photo walk in the Wetlands area of Fontenelle Forest. Anyone interested in participating should meet on the patio of the Wetlands Learning Center at 2 pm.
Former President’s Gallery Opening
Many of you remember Frank Comisar who previously served the club as the webmaster and past club President. As you may know, Frank, who is an outstanding nature and landscape photographer, moved to Durango, CO last year to pursue photography on a full time basis. I am happy to pass along to you that Frank’s new gallery will be opening in Durango on May 29th! Check out his web site, http://durangogallery.photography/ to see his work. Also, take a look at his About page to see a picture of the new gallery.
So if you happen to be in Southwest Colorado this summer, stop by Frank’s gallery and enjoy the great work of an old club alum. Congratulations Frank!
Executive Committee Elections
Executive Committee elections will be held during our June 18th meeting. We are still looking for candidates, especially for the President, VP and Secretary positions. The success of our club depends on the participation of our members so please consider running for one of the positions. For more information on the positions and their responsibilities, see the“Wanted! Executive Committee Candidates” blog post.
Fontenelle Forest Photo Club Contest
The countdown is on! 30 days and counting until photos need to be submitted for the annual club photo contest.
Submissions and the show set up is on 5/30 at 10am. The critique and awards will be done during our regular meeting on 6/18 which will be held at the Bellevue University Gallery in the Humanities Building. Photos will be taken down on Saturday, 6/27. Here’s a link to all of the contest information and rules.
Judy Dye will be collecting night/darkness and landscape photos at the May and June meetings for the displays in the Nature Center and the Bellevue Library. As usual, the photos can be 8×10, 8×12 or 11×14. No mattes or frames please. Please include your name, location and subject on the back of the photo.
Next Meeting – Raptor Shoot!
Just a reminder that our next meeting is one that you won’t want to miss. This meeting is a special treat as the Fontenelle Forest Raptor Recovery organization will have live raptors on display for club members to photograph. Last year we had a variety of owls available. This year they will bring in a variety of hawks and falcons. This is always a great opportunity to learn about these fascinating animals while photographing these beautiful subjects. So come prepared with your photo gear and enjoy!
