Minutes of the Fontenelle Forest Photo Club Meeting, February 21, 2019

About 29 people met at 7:00 PM at Fontenelle Forest.

President Jay Davis presided.


Treasurer’s report – Kathleen Rose:

Kathleen mentioned that the club has $1,700 in the treasury.

Photo Displays – Judy Dye

February: Anything old and trees.

April: Forms in nature and glass.

June: Bugs

Sept.: People walking dogs and toads/frogs.

Nov.: Snow and ice


The rest of the meeting was devoted to a discussion of the request from the director of Fontenelle Forest for the club to put on a display in the Barwright gallery. The show or display will run from the end of August 2019 to Jan 22, 2020. Fontenelle Forest will provide the club with $1500-2000 to put on this display. They will also provide media and marketing for the display.

The title of the display will be “Natural Exposure”.

The following topics will be discussed concerning the display:

  • Image display
  • Number of images
  • The selection process

Image display: Topics will be of objects in the natural world (trees, landscapes, birds, animals, etc…).

All images will displayed on a single cut white mat from the same supplier. All frames will be from the same supplier.

Images will be of three sizes:

  • 12 X 18 image in a 16 X 20 frame.
  • 8 X 10 image in an 11 X 14 frame.
  • 5 X 7 image in an 8 X 10 frame.

All images be will be printed by the same printer.

Number of images: Will depend on the size submitted but roughly around 60.

Selection Process: Every member will have at least one image submitted and displayed. The first, second, third place and honorable mention photos of the upcoming photo contest will be displayed at 16 X 20 size. The remaining photos will be from the various members. Members can decide on what size they want displayed.

Our next meeting in April will be set aside for those who want to bring in an image to be critiqued. Terry Koopman a colleague of Jay’s will be here to participate in the critique.
