I’m still looking for a few more members that are willing to speak to the group about their favorite photography destination. One of the great benefits to being part of a club like this is learning from each others experiences. If you would like to share your experience, whether it is on the other side of the world, or the other side of Fontenelle Forest, please send me an e-mail via firstname.lastname@example.org so that I can get you on the agenda.
We’re looking for ten minutes on the following:
- Best time of year to shoot there
- The subjects that are available to photograph
- What makes it so special for you?
Also, please remember to bring items and cash so you can participate in our swap meet. I’m sure we all have things we no longer need and/or items we’ve been looking for, so bring in a few doodads, a few bucks and your bargaining skills and let’s have some fun with this. Even if no one buys or sells anything, it will be a fun show and tell session! Here are a few items I’m planning on bringing in:
- A set of 58mm lens filters
- (1) Camera backpack
- (1) Camera bag
- (1) padded camera strap
- (1) tripod ballhead w/mounting plate
- Several issues of Photoshop User magazine to give away for free!!!
All items are in good shape so come ready to make an offer!
Please let me know if there are any questions. Otherwise, we’ll see you all on Thursday!

Some of you may have heard that Google recently acquired NIK Software, the maker of Snapseed (mobile photo editing app), and several other popular plug-ins for Photoshop and Lightroom. Many photographers, myself included, love these plug-ins and feared that Google would cease further development.
Well never fear, Google says development will continue and they are now offering them at a new, substantially lower price. Previously, each of the six plug-ins cost around $100, some a bit more. Now Google is offering the entire bundle of six for $149. And, if you have already purchased one or more, you can download the entire collection for free. This is a sweet deal!!
The plug-ins are well designed and save a lot of time in post processing. I frequently use Viveza (selective adjustment of brightness, contrast, saturation, clarity), Silver Efex Pro (B&W conversion), and Define (noise reduction). I have an older version of Sharpener Pro but haven’t used it for awhile. I’m looking forward to trying the new version and the other plug-in too.
