Our club members took some great owl shots during our last meeting and were gracious enough to allow me to share them with you all.

If you haven’t had a chance to send in your favorite shots, please feel free to send them to me via webmaster@fontenelleforestphotoclub.org and I’ll be happy to post them. Or you can also post them on the website Forum.

Send in your Owl Shoot Pictures

Thursday’s Owl Shoot turned out to be a great time, thanks to the wonderful ladies from the Fontenelle Forest Raptor Recovery program. Janet, Deb, Diane and Julianne not only provided us with great subjects to shoot, but also gave very informative presentations on each owl. And the opportunity to watch Janet release a juvenile Great Horned Owl was a real bonus and a special treat.

I know many of the attendees took some great shots at this event so if you’d like to share them on our website, please send up to 3 or your best shots to me via e-mail at webmaster@fontenelleforestphotoclub.org. Once I have several, I will set up a post for everyone to view. If you know how, please remember to resize the pictures to a maximum size of 600 pixels on the longest side and a resolution of 72 dpi. May Meeting Minutes

24 members were in attendance.

Raptor Rescue brought 4 owls to the meeting: burrowing owl, barred owl, barn owl and great horned owl.

The members were able to photograph the birds and when it became darker, the group went back inside to learn about each of the owls. The evening ended with a great horned owlet being released into the forest.

The photo contest is coming up and set up will be May 31st at the Bellevue University Humanites Building at 10:00AM. The critique will take place at the June 19th meeting.

May 15th Club Meeting Reminder – Owl Shoot

Our May 15th meeting will be an Owl Photo Shoot featuring the owls of the Fontenelle Forest Raptor Recovery Center. In order to take advantage of the good light we will have our photo shoot first and a business meeting afterwards.

Come prepared to photograph some exciting owls—Janet Stander, of the Raptor Recovery Team, says its bad karma to promise that they will bring certain birds but expect to have some exciting photo opportunities.

A medium zoom lens is good for shooting hand held birds. The use of a flash is allowed. If you have additional tips, please post them on our blog site or send them to me and I’ll forward them to the group.

Remember to bring your prints for the club displays. Prints featuring rodents and prints showing textures. They should be unmatted, unframed and labeled with your name and the subject. 8 x 10, 8 x 12, and 11 x 14 sizes are all good.

Also remember to bring your pictures from this month’s Photo Challenge on a flash drive. This month’s challenges were Reflection, Telephoto Lens and Off-Camera Flash.

If you will not be available for the contest hanging on May 31st you may also bring your contest photos to this meeting. See the web site for contest rules and guidelines.

New Photo Club Webmaster

Hello All,

My name is Peter Carbonell and I just wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself as the new webmaster for the Fontenelle Forest Photo Club website, taking over for Frank Comisar who is moving on to greener pastures.

I’ve been a member of the club a little over a year. I’ve learned so much from all of you that I figured it was time to contribute to the club.

As always, if you have something you need posted, or have questions about the site you can continue contact me  as the webmaster via the Contact link on the page.

Also, I’d like to thank Frank Comisar for all of the time and effort he has given as the webmaster and all of the other roles he has played with the club. We’ll miss you Frank!

Please let me know if there are any questions.
