REMINDER – Photo Contest Setup This Saturday!!

This Saturday, June 1st at 10 A.M. is the drop off for our photo contest. Please arrive sometime between 10 A.M. and NOON to drop off your photos at the Humanities building at Bellevue University. Up to 4 photos can be entered. Be sure to put your name and phone number on the back of your photos, along with a wire to hang the photo. I will not have any wire to add to your photo to hang. Kathleen and I will be the two checking everyone in. Be sure to see one of us to check in your photos before leaving the building. I will have extra entry cards at the drop off if you need them. Anyone wanting to help hang photos with us will be appreciated. Please coordinate helping with Kathleen on Saturday. Should be a great show once again!

See everyone this Saturday.

Cheers,
Doug French

Results – Sandhills Photo Shoot

As mentioned in the last post, the weather was not our friend during the Fontenelle Forest Photography Club’s sandhills photo shoot. Severe thunderstorms blew through the Valentine, NE area each night. For the most part, except for mid-day, we never saw the sun. However, there was much more to this outing than just photography. A great time was had by all. During out time together not only did we make some photographs but we also talked about our day jobs, exchanged photography tips, ate meals together, joked, and laughed (a lot).

Did I mention we made some photographs?  Here are a few samples (best viewed in full-screen – FS at bottom right of gallery):

Update 2 – Sandhills Photo Shoot

Despite very sketchy weather, Frank, Nick, Doug, Eric, Peter, Allen, and Richard had a great time at the Fontenelle Forest Photography Club Sandhills Photo Shoot last weekend. In a few days we will post the results of our efforts. But in the mean time here are a few pics of your fellow club members in their natural habitat:

May 16, 2013 Meeting Minutes

President Frank Comisar opened the meeting with about 25 members present.

Contest Coordinator Doug French reminded us that the Club Show is quickly approaching.  Your photos need to be ready to go by June 1st.  So it’s time to get cracking!  Start thinking about which pictures you’d like to enter and get them framed.  If you can’t drop off your pictures on June 1st, you can make arrangements with either Doug or Kathleen Crawford-Rose.  The judge this year will be Derrald Farnsworth-Livingston.  For more information about the Contest, dates and rules, please visit our contest page.

New officers were elected for 2013/2014 as follows:

      • President – Allen Kurth
      • Vice President – Alan Brodin
      • Secretary – Heather Ingram

The May issue of our newsletter will be the last such newsletter provided in the traditional format. All communications going forward is now provided through our club web site – www.fontenelleforestphotoclub.org. Members are encouraged to subscribe to automatic e-mail notifications. A special thanks goes out to Dick Keefe for many years of service related to producing and distributing the Snapshot. Thanks Dick, your efforts have been greatly appreciated.

After announcements and election, Frank Comisar presented information and photos from two recent photo shoots: Prairie Chickens and Sharp-Tailed Grouse near Burwell, NE and Monument Valley

Update! Sandhills Photo Shoot

Update for immediate release to Fontenelle Forest Photography Club members:

Frank, Nick, Doug, Eric, Peter, Allen, and Richard are doing well in the Sandhills. During our first photo shoot last night we were treated to some very interesting storm clouds. We intended to go out this morning at 3:00 for star trails but awoke to heavy rain, lightning, and thunder. Instead we were able to get these two magnificent sunrise shots at the hotel’s breakfast buffet – quite dry. C&C welcome 🙂
